In a recent statement, Russia’s top general accused the United States of using Africa as a testing ground for medical experiments, including drug trials, and alleged that the U.S. is spreading pandemics through a network of secret biological laboratories.
These claims echo previous Russian claims which have called out U.S. activities abroad.
Russia has frequently accused the U.S. of operating clandestine Biolabs near its borders, particularly in former Soviet states like Ukraine and Georgia.
These allegations intensified during the COVID-19 pandemic, with Russian officials suggesting that U.S.-funded laboratories were involved in the creation or spread of the virus.
Major General Alexey Rtishchev, Deputy Chief of Russia’s Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Protection Troops made the accusations in a video titled “After Ukraine, Now Africa: America Using Vulnerable…”

Other key accusations:
Ukraine:
During the ongoing conflict with Ukraine, Russian officials have alleged that the U.S. is funding biolabs in the country to develop biological weapons targeting Russia.
These claims were amplified in 2022 when the Russian Ministry of Defense released documents purporting to show evidence of such programs.
The U.S. and Ukraine have repeatedly denied these accusations, emphasizing that the labs are part of global health and safety initiatives.
Georgia:
The Lugar Center, a U.S.-funded public health research facility in Tbilisi, Georgia, has been a focal point of Russian allegations. Russian officials claim that the center is a front for developing biological weapons and conducting experiments on humans.
The Georgian government and international organizations, including the World Health Organization (WHO), have dismissed these claims, stating that the facility focuses on public health and disease prevention.
