Police have arrested a California man after he reportedly stole a human leg from a fatal train accident before eating it.
The gruesome incident took place at the Amtrak station in Wasco on Friday.
1st Responder Media identified the suspect as Resendo Tellez, 27, who is believed to be homeless.

The man removed the limb from the tracks at the local Amtrak station in Wasco, a city roughly 25 miles northwest of Bakersfield.
He appeared unconcerned by the responding police or the bewildered bystanders filming the revolting scene, and gave a brief wave when he spotted the cameras.

“On March 22, 2024, at approximately 0800 hours, deputies from the Wasco Substation assisted BNSF Railroad Police with a pedestrian struck by a train,” 1st Responder Media wrote in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
“Deputies learned that 27-year-old Resendo Tellez removed evidence from the accident scene. Tellez was located and arrested without incident for multiple outstanding warrants and taking evidence from the scene. BNSF Investigators arrived and assumed the investigation.”
A pedestrian had been struck by a train and killed at the train station, leaving behind a severed leg.

Authorities additionally noted that the pedestrian had been hit in front of the train’s platform, according to 23 ABC Bakersfield. Arrest records show that Tellez was charged with a misdemeanor for “removing human body parts from an area that is not a cemetery without law enforcement approval,” the outlet reported.
Officials confirmed that an investigation is still ongoing for the person killed by the Amtrak train, according to 23 ABC Bakersfield. Tellez is scheduled for a first court appearance on March 26, the outlet reported.
The incident is under investigation.
