South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson is leading a coalition of state attorneys general in a sweeping investigation into Anthony Fauci’s role in the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a press release from Wilson’s office, the coalition is “demanding accountability for alleged mismanagement, misleading statements, and suppression of scientific debate.”
“In a letter to Speaker of the House Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune, the attorneys general commend ongoing Congressional efforts to uncover misconduct and request state-level cooperation in pursuing any violations of state laws,” the press release continued.
“President Biden’s blanket pardon of Dr. Fauci is a shameful attempt to prevent accountability,” Wilson stated.
“If any of these findings indicate violations of state laws, we are fully prepared to take appropriate action to ensure justice is served,” he added.
Wilson’s Office Outlines Key Concerns
According to Wilson’s office, the letter comes in response to the final report from the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, which details widespread failures and possible misconduct by top government officials, including Fauci.
The report highlights misleading public statements on COVID-19’s origins, mismanagement of National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding, and efforts to silence scientific discussions regarding vaccine risks.

Despite these revelations, former President Joe Biden issued a broad pardon for Fauci, shielding him from federal prosecution for any alleged offenses during his tenure.
However, the attorneys general argue that this federal pardon does not prevent legal action at the state level.
The coalition is requesting that Congress provide them with any relevant findings that could lead to state investigations and potential prosecutions. They emphasize their commitment to maintaining public trust, ensuring transparency, and preventing similar failures in future public health emergencies.
Attorneys General Backing the Investigation:

Liz Murrill, Louisiana
Ken Paxton, Texas
Steve Marshall, Alabama
Raúl Labrador, Idaho
Drew Wrigley, North Dakota
Derek E. Brown, Utah
Todd Rokita, Indiana
Marty Jackley, South Dakota
Tim Griffin, Arkansas

Kris Kobach, Kansas
John B. McCuskey, West Virginia
Mike Hilgers, Nebraska
“The attorneys general urge Congressional leaders to continue their investigative efforts and ensure that all responsible parties are held accountable at both federal and state levels,” the press release concluded.
Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill reaffirmed the state-level commitment to the investigation, stating:
“I’ve joined my colleagues in requesting information on Dr. Fauci’s role in the COVID-19 response. His shocking pardon by @JoeBiden does not prohibit any state-level investigation or legal proceedings. Louisiana will follow the evidence.”
Ongoing Congressional Scrutiny
The request to Congress follows the December release of the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic’s final report, which detailed failures by high-ranking officials, including Fauci.
The report outlined concerns such as the virus’s origins, suppression of scientific dissent, and misleading testimony regarding NIH funding.
While Biden’s pardon shields Fauci from federal prosecution, it does not prevent states from taking legal action.
A statement from Wilson’s office reinforced the coalition’s commitment to accountability and ensuring that no official is beyond scrutiny.
