Earlier today, the White House avoided questions about Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, defying a congressional subpoena to testify on his family’s foreign business dealings as part of the GOP-led impeachment inquiry.

Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was quite forthcoming in her intentions to avoid questions about Hunter.

“I’m just not gonna speak to that,” Jean-Pierre snapped at reporters Wednesday.

“I’m just gonna have you speak to the White House Counsel on this.”

However, Jean-Pierre did say the president was “certainly familiar” with what his son would tell reporters outside the Capitol, the Washington Examiner reported.

Hunter’s appearance coincided with the date he was meant to appear before the House Oversight Committee.

The White House press secretary failed to confirm whether President Biden contributed to drafting his son’s statement to the press.

Hunter refused to participate in the hearing unless permitted to do so in public, which meant he could now face charges of contempt of Congress.

“I think what you saw was from the heart from his son,” Jean-Pierre said.

“When it comes to the president, the first lady, they are proud of him continuing to rebuild his life. They are proud of their son.”

House Republicans will vote on whether to launch an official impeachment inquiry against President Biden.

Biden campaign communications director Michael Tyler said in a memo:

“The only single fact in this entire sham impeachment exercise is that it’s a nakedly transparent ploy by House MAGA Republicans to boost Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.”

“The only branch of government MAGA Republicans control is following through on Donald Trump’s promise to use the levers of government to enact political retribution on his enemies. You know, like the followers of a dictator.”

Hunter Biden said that his father was not involved financially in any of his business dealings, NBC News reported.

“Not as a practicing lawyer, as a board member of Burisma, not in my partnership with a Chinese private businessman, not in my investments at home nor abroad, and certainly not as an artist,” he said.

Hunter also said the three chairmen, Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan, Ways and Means Chair Jason Smith, R-Mo., and Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky., have “distorted the facts.”

“There is no fairness or decency in what these Republicans are doing,” he said.

“They have lied over and over about every aspect of my personal and professional life, so much so that their lies have become false facts believed by too many people.”
