Amazon founder and billionaire Jeff Bezos has joined Bill Gates in pouring tens of millions into developing synthetic meat while bankrupting farmers across the U.S. in the process.

Bezos’ charitable organization, the Bezos Earth Fund (BEF), announced this week that it will spend a whopping $60 million on research and development of “alternative proteins,” or “plant-based and food-technology alternatives to animal protein.”

The BEF’s new funding commitment is part of its $1 billion campaign to transform food systems to “fight climate change.”

“Alternative proteins are an imperative if we are to stay within planetary boundaries, if we are to feed 10 billion people within those boundaries,” Andy Jarvis, the director of the BEF’s “Future of Food” initiative, told Bloomberg.

“We’re investing in alternative proteins because they need to be successful. They need to cost less, they need to be more flavorful.”

Jarvis said there is massive spending with university support research centers to develop synthetic meat and reduce manufacturing costs.

According to the BEF, the push to develop synthetic meats will help reduce gas emissions from
agriculture, but also put many farmers out of business.

“Food is the second largest cause of climate change, and agriculture is the primary driver of deforestation and biodiversity loss. Making the food system more sustainable requires changing the way we produce and consume food,” BEF wrote in a Tuesday statement.

“Given population and income growth, by 2050 food consumption is expected to rise by 50%, while emissions from food will need to fall by 60% and pressure on vital forest systems will need to be reduced. New ideas, technologies, and behaviors can make this possible.”

The news comes after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Bill Gates’ lab-grown meat last year.

The Epoch Times reported:

In a Nov. 16 Facebook post, Italian Minister of Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida said, “In defense of health, of the Italian production system, of thousands of jobs, of our culture and tradition, with the law approved today, Italy is the first nation in the world to be safe from the social and economic risks of synthetic food,” according to an English translation.

The bill passed the Italian Senate by a measure of 159–53 and was supported by the country’s agricultural groups, which worked to protect Italy’s $10.1 billion meat-processing industry.

Earlier this month, the Biden administration announced plans to use tax dollars to fund a campaign to convince Americans to “ear more bugs” to “save the planet.”

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) began pouring hundreds of thousands of dollars into
researching trash-fed crickets as an alternative to “unsustainable” protein production.

The move away from meat falls in line with Klaus Schwab‘s WEF “Great Reset agenda.”

According to the WEF, “farming accounts for 26% of all greenhouse gas emissions” which is the reason they are giving to justify destroying the livelihoods of farmers.
