Major influential GOP donors are throwing millions into presidential hopeful Nikki Haley’s campaign to stop Donald Trump.
Big Republican donors are betting that the former South Carolina governor can gain voters’ approval ahead of the 2024 election.
Koch network endorsement is the latest sign the GOP establishment is scrambling for a Trump alternative.
However, despite the Koch network’s tens of millions of dollars and political influence, their endorsement has raised more questions for Haley, CNN reported.
The question is whether such a boost would aid Haley in making her a serious political threat to Trump.
Donors are hoping that accelerating Haley could create conditions where it would be possible for Trump to be beaten.
Such political donations may also help Haley beat rivals like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and ex-New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
This could also consolidate the field and push Haley to the position of a major Trump challenge.
AFP Action senior adviser Emily Seidel claimed the American people are ready to move on from Trump, claiming the former president has “negative baggage.”
However, her claims don’t hold up because, according to polls, Trump is still ahead and will likely become the Republican nominee.
“AFP Action is proud to throw our full support behind Nikki Haley, who offers America the opportunity to turn the page on the current political era, to win the Republican primary and defeat Joe Biden next November,” she wrote.
Home Depot co-founder and billionaire Ken Langone is also supporting Haley, calling her approach to the 2024 election “smart.”
“I think she’s just what we need right now. I think her approach is smart. I think she’s clarified herself on some issues, which is very important,” Langone said in an interview with Fox News’s Neil Cavuto.
“And more importantly, I think the American people need this kind of leadership, statesman-like, elegant.”
“When you think of where we’ve been in the last six or seven or eight years, it’s not good, Neil. It’s not good at all,” he added.
The former Trump supporter said he couldn’t support DeSantis because his “numbers aren’t moving.”
“What Trump put this country through for the last three months of his presidency was disgraceful. I’m sorry,” he said.
“And I think, frankly, that, to me, ruined his chances to succeed himself at some point,” he told Cavuto.
“So, you know, I think what happened on January 6th, all I had to say was, ‘Please go home. You made known your feelings. Now go home.'”
Meanwhile, Haley told local Republican congressman, Randy Feenstra, “We won’t defeat Democratic chaos with Republican chaos.”
“That’s what Donald Trump brings,” she said.
According to a recent Wall Street Journal poll, in a head-to-head match-up with Joe Biden, Ms Haley would beat him by 17 points.
