Rumors have been swirling for quite some time that former First Lady Michelle Obama is secretly being “prepped” by Democrats to replace President Joe Biden as their 2024 presidential nominee.
While the prospect of Michelle Obama entering the 2024 presidential race is entirely plausible, is there really any truth to it? Well, those who are paying attention are seeing all the signs.
The former First Lady has been making headlines recently, one of which was where she voiced fears of former president Donald Trump taking back the White House.
“I’m terrified about what could possibly happen, because our leaders matter. Who we select, who speaks for us, who holds that bully pulpit, it affects us in ways sometimes I think people take for granted,” Michelle Obama told Jay Shetty on his podcast “On Purpose.”
Just days later, New York Post columnist Cindy Adams wrote an article with the headline: “Don’t be shocked if Michelle Obama sneaks her way into 2024 race.”
In her article, Adams writes:
Biden won’t debate. Can’t. Our codger-in-chief can’t even read the prewritten script in front of him fast enough to pronounce the words.
So, forget him — which most of us already have.
Coming back now — Obama. Not him. HER!
We’ve heard this drumbeat for a while. Now it’s louder.
Plans are to grab Michelle for the Democratic presidency choice. Making the music is Barack, the orchestra leader.
Adams also revealed that in 2022, Michelle Obama met with a number of prominent hedge CEOs and said, “I am running, and I am asking for your support.”
Meanwhile, former Fox News host Megyn Kelly said during her SiriusXM podcast ‘The Megyn Kelly Show’ that Michelle Obama was more talented politically than Joe Biden.
“There’s no question she’s more talented than Joe Biden politically. No question,” Kelly said.
Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz predicted in September last year that Michelle Obama could be “parachuted in” at the Democratic National Convention in August 2024.
“So here’s the scenario that I think is perhaps the most likely and most dangerous,” Cruz said, adding, “In August of 2024, the Democrat kingmakers jettison Joe Biden and parachute in Michelle Obama. I view this as a very serious danger.”
Former speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich, also warned about the possibility of Michelle Obama entering the presidential race. Speaking to Maria Bartiromo on Fox News, Gingrich warned that the departure of Biden’s domestic policy adviser, Susan Rice, could be the first step to the return of the Obamas.
Gingrich said he believed Rice’s departure was a signal of her disagreement with Biden’s “kamikaze” reelection bid.
“Do you believe that Susan Rice leaves the White House the day before Biden makes this [reelection] announcement, is a coincidence?” Bartiromo asked Gingrich. “I mean, I feel that this is very significant. I don’t know if she’s going to be managing someone else’s campaign, if she’s going to run to challenge Biden. What do you think is going on here? But clearly, Democrats are divided over Biden’s reelection bid.”
“Well, I think that at a minimum, it probably is a sign that she said, ‘Don’t do it,'” Gingrich said. “And [Biden] said, ‘I’m doing it anyway.’ And I think she just didn’t want to be a part of a Biden reelection [bid].”
As it stands, Joe Biden’s chances of winning reelection are not great, especially as it looks more like he will be going up against former president Donald Trump, who recently scored a landslide victory in the Iowa Caucuses.
If Democrats know Biden can’t win, do they have a plan B?
Enter Michelle Obama.
Democrats are desperate to recapture the perceived charisma of the Obamas, especially as the Biden family has been marred in scandals involving corruption, lies, and obstruction.
Merrill Mathews writes in The Hill:
Democrats see Barack Obama’s presidency as a type of modern “Camelot,” the term often used to refer to John F. Kennedy’s presidency, when a young, smart and appealing president and his sophisticated young wife occupied the White House. As one historian has described it, “The term Camelot has been used retrospectively to refer to the Kennedy administration, which lasted between January 1961 and November 1963, capturing the charisma of Kennedy and his family.”
The fact is Obama is still the most popular and capable figure in today’s Democratic Party. As Fox News pointed out last October, just before the midterms, when Democrats were urging Obama to get out and campaign, “The former president, who left office in January 2017, remains extremely popular with Democrats and moderately popular with independent voters.”
If Michelle were on the Democratic ticket, Barack would be a close adviser, not just to Michelle but to the administration and the Democratic Party. In short, capturing Michelle would be the best way to recapture what Democrats see as that ole’ Obama magic.
Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., who recently endorsed Donald Trump for president, also warned of the possibility of Michelle Obama running in 2024.
“I feel like they’re grooming someone, and we all know it’s not Kamala [Harris],” Scott, R-S.C., told the “Ruthless” podcast last year. “So I think they [Democrats] have a backup plan because every time I listen to the current president speak, I’m like, ‘Is this getting harder?'”
Meanwhile, failed vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin wrote on X last year, “Don’t be surprised … I still say it’ll be Michelle O … Biden’s out.”
In July, Trump ally Roger Stone told the audience at a Turning Point Action conference that “the Democratic nominee for president will be Michelle Obama.”
Given Joe Biden’s poor chances of winning the reelection, the Democrats must pull out a wild card, and Michelle Obama might be their only hope.
